Shortfin Mako Shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) is a mackerel shark and belongs to the family Lamnidae.

Depth: Surface to 350 meter (1,150 ft.)
Habitat: open oceans, temperate and tropical seas, prefers temperatures over 16 °C (61 °F)
Diet: Pelagic cephalopods, bony fish, swordfish, sea turtles and sea birds
Reproduction: Viviparous, gestation period 15-18 months, 4-18 pups, every second year
Sexual maturity: around 1.85-2.75 meter (6.1-9.0 ft.); around 8-18 years of age
